i've been tagged again to do another meme!

>> Wednesday, October 28, 2009

angel at emily makes three tagged me for this meme. it's a new one i haven't seen before.

here goes...

1- Name someone with the same birthday as you. ok this is easy and a cool one! i share my birthday with my daughter kelley, two friends stacy and stephanie and an angel shannon!

2- Where was your first kiss? it was at "black mountain" a big giant rock and the boy's name was steve.

3- Have you ever seriously vandalized someone else's property? no, i have been pretty angry and have come up with devious plots that i never would actually do. vandalizing hasn't made the list.

4- Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex? yes but i'm older and wiser now.

5- Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people? no, well not since elementary school when we had christmas programs.

6- What's the first thing you notice about the preferred sex? probably his smile, unless he happens to smell really good.

7- What really turns you on? hmmm...a few drinks and lots of laughter maybe?

8- What do you order at Starbucks? hot spiced apple cider or hot chocolate.

9- What is your biggest mistake? i'm going to keep that one to myself.

10- Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose? no, not in the traditional sense, but i know some things are bad for me yet i don't give them up.

11- Say something totally random about yourself. i think i was born in the wrong era.

12- Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity? in different pictures i've been told sophia loren, lindsay lohan and mia hamm. but never in real life.

13- Do you still watch kiddie movies or TV shows? yes! i love tom and jerry and old scooby doo, the flintstones and the sitcoms from when i was growing up. plus a couple the girls watch like icarly, drake and josh, sponge bob and my fave-fairly odd parents.

14- Did you have braces? yes, for about a year and a half. but i had to wear some mouth contraption thing for several years before braces.

15- Are you comfortable with your height? yes.

16-What is the most romantic thing someone of the preferred sex has done for you? mr. h getting and decorating a christmas tree as a surprise on our first christmas together when we really couldn't afford it. maybe not romantic, but definitely made my heart skip a beat.

17- When do you know it's love? i wish i knew this answer, could have saved myself a lot of trouble.

18- Do you speak any other languages? no, but i should be fluent is spanish-i've lost it over the years and am not happy about it.

19- Have you ever been to a tanning salon? yes, and even had a friend who had her own. i haven't been tanning since cancer invaded my life though.

20- What magazines do you read? People, and whatever interests me at the moment.

21- Have you ever ridden in a limo? i think so, but i don't remember for sure.

22- Has anyone you were really close to passed away? yes, too many. =(

23- Do you watch MTV? not since i had kids, so it's been a really long time.

24- What's something that really annoys you? intolerance. i am completely intolerant of intolerance.

25- What's something you really like? wow! lots of things, i couldn't possibly list them all, a few would be music, pets and nice smells.

26- Do you like Michael Jackson? i really did back in the day. i still have his thriller album. i think he was very misunderstood in this life.

27- Can you dance? oh gosh no.

28- What's the latest you have ever stayed up? not for sure, well past 24 hours, maybe 36.

29- Have you ever been rushed by an ambulance into the emergency room? yes. and have been sent from one hospital to another via ambulance too.

30- Do you actually read these when other people fill them out? yep! i love learning about people.

31- Tag 5 people! i won't actually tag anyone this time around cause i'm not sure who all has been tagged. if you have been tagged or decide to do this, let me know in a comment so i can check it out!

by golly i've been tagged!

>> Thursday, October 15, 2009

my bloggy friend shannon tagged me. and now i get to reveal eight random things about me that people don't already know. sounds easy, huh? nope not for me...i'm wide open. in turn i will be tagging six of you to do the same!

1. i have been in three car accidents that were all pretty rough. none of them my fault thank goodness and other than bumps and bruises i was always ok. except that my number one phobia is car accidents. i am absolutely no fun on car trips and always freak when i hear screeching breaks in the distance, if they end in a crash then i really freak!

2. the only dreams i ever seem to have (or atleast remember) are nightmares. except for when i dream of my childhood home which is now well over 100 years old and pretty big and creepy. i always have good dreams of the house and would love to buy it and raise the girls in it.

3. i have been to more funerals as a teenager than an adult. i'm not wanting that to change any time soon. but with facebook i am truly shocked at how many of my former classmates have passed away.

4. speaking of facebook-thanks to that and email, etc. i am in contact with almost every one of my bestest childhood friends. some i haven't actually seen in over 25 years.

5. i am OCD about certain things. weird things. if i touch my body in any way, stretch, blink my eye, i have to do the same thing to the opposite side of my body or else i feel "uneven".

6. i pray or more so chat with God all throughout the day plus every night before i go to sleep. it's very conversational and i wonder if He prefer i were more formal when i pray to Him.

7. growing up, my parents and i watched a lot of horror movies. they didn't scare me at all. now they do! the final destination series are the worst! (but i still like them). i think i'm more liberal with my girls than my parents were with me but i don't let them watch horror movies. well maybe a couple that aren't really gruesome.

8. if i could go back and change any of my life experiences, having cancer is not one that i would change. well, i would change the left over permanent damage. but not the cancer experience itself. it has to have changed me, taught me things, etc. and there must have been a reason for it.

there you go! did you know those things? some of you did i'm sure. and i apologize as the tone was really morbid. i didn't intend to do that on purpose-it's hard to think of things that wouldn't come up in any type of usual conversation.

here's the list of who i'm tagging and i'll also leave you a comment to let you know:
kathy, chrissy, dorien, lisa, stephanie, alison.

a couple of you have been a wee bit slack in the blogging department, so i hope this will get you back to blogging!

5 question friday!

>> Friday, September 4, 2009

thanks to mama m. a new thing to have fun with today...5 question friday!

here are the rules:

Copy and paste the questions to your blog, answer them, grab the MckLinky Blog Hop code, link up and voila!! You're hoppin' along with us!

September 4th Questions:

1. The clothing outfit you remember from childhood and why?

my most memorable childhood outfit was the outfit i wore on the first day of high school. the brand was club coconut grove. it was a little flared mini skirt with green and white stripes and a matching green tee. it was fun, funky and cute! and i was the only one i ever saw wearing this outfit except for when my friend krissy borrowed it. i still have the outfit! packed away in a box of memories.

2. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

the first thing i wanted to be was a sister! not a nun. just a plain old sister. oh how i wanted a sibling. (i still do)! that probably doesn't count does it? i really wanted to be a mommy. and an author just like judy blume!

3. What is your must have for Fall?

if i could have anything for fall my must have would actually be fall weather~we don't get much of that in florida. the two things that we must have though are: brach's candy corn (no other brand will do) and i must change out our closets to add fall clothes. even though the temperature is still quite warm i try to add as many "fallish" items i can which usually means anything that is not shorts and a tank top.

4. If money were no object, how many kiddos would you really have?

a houseful! seriously the first thing we'd do is buy a larger house and have jack (my stepson) come and live with us and the girls. and then i would want to have another baby definitely. so that's 4. i'm not done though, because i really think our hearts would have room to adopt as well. that would leave us on an odd number so we'd have to add another to the mix somehow...so 6!

5. The best part of your birthing story (other than the beautiful child at the end).

well i have had 2 babies and i would say that the best part of both was the same...in both cases things were getting really tough and i didn't think i could hold out for hours and hours longer without some sort of pain control. just when i didn't think i could take anymore in either labor the nurse discovered that i was actually ready to deliver! and that was completely reinvigorating! so the best part was then letting them come on out and join us while being completely free of pain meds or an epidural. of course the best moment was meeting each girl for the first time...but the relief and accomplishment i felt doing it all on my own was awesome!

holiday traditions meme

>> Wednesday, December 3, 2008

i borrowed this idea from postcards from insanity. the christmas season is my favorite time of year. i hope everyone will join in the meme fun!

1. wrapping paper or gift bags? i definitely prefer to wrap presents. but gift bags are so handy. i wrap most gifts, but the odd shaped ones go in gift bags.

2. real tree or artificial? we have an artificial tree. one year i just had to have a real tree. it was absolutely gorgeous! but as i watched my beautiful tree die i was heartbroken. seriously. so i vowed to stick with artificial after that.

3. when do you put up the tree? usually the tree goes up the weekend after thankgiving. we're running a little bit late this year. but hopefully the tree will be trimmed tonight.

4. when do you take the tree down? pretty quickly after christmas. i love having the house decorated for christmas. but by the time the festivities are over, i'm ready to get things back to normal.

5. do you like eggnog? i don't think i do. i'm sure i have tried it in the past, but i am not a milk drinker and eggnog definitely reminds me of milk.

6. favorite gift received as a child? my cabbage patch preemie, lynnea elberta! i still have her packed away somewhere.

7. hardest person to buy for? my dad. i try to find fun gadgets for him, but it's definitely a challenge every year.

8. easiest person to buy for? the girls. i could shop and shop for them.

9. do you have a nativity scene? yes, it's a beautiful porcelain with gold trim set.

10. mail or email cards? i didn't know people emailed christmas cards! i love to send them, but even better i love to receive them. i also love to get family newsletters. but i've never done one.

11. worst christmas gift you ever received? i don't think the person who gave me my worst gift reads my blog, but just in case i better not mention it. i hate to hurt people's feelings.

12. favorite christmas movie? the original miracle on 34th street and a christmas story. i have never seen it's a wonderful life and every year i swear i will watch it, i even have it. so this year-i will watch it, i promise!

13. when do you start shopping for christmas? probably mid-november. this year i've done all of my shopping online which has been nice and easy.

14. have you ever recycled a christmas present? i can't remember a specific time that i've done this, but i probably have.

15. favorite thing to eat at christmas? i love all of the yummy cookies and treats!

16. lights on a tree? white lights. and i don't mind if they twinkle as long as they all twinkle in an orderly fashion. what i mean is, i like when they all twinkle as opposed to one strand twinkling, then the next.

17. favorite christmas song? i could never pick just one-i love them all! the traditional ones sang by bing crosby and frank sinatra and the newer ones by mariah carey and the trans-siberian orchestra.

18. can you name all of santa's reindeer? of course!

19. angel or star on the tree top? angel. though my current theme for our tree is sweet treats and our top is sort of a sugar plum angel.

20. open the presents christmas eve or morning? we have a family gift exchange on christmas eve with my grandparents and a friend of the family. and we always open our traditional christmas jammies on christmas eve. on christmas morning we open our gifts from each other, my parents and santa. santa delivers our gifts to my parents house because they have a chimney. so we have a sleepover with them.

21. most annoying thing about this time of year? i love it all! even the years that i do christmas shopping at the stores, i don't mind the crowds. it's all part of the excitement!

22. favorite ornament theme or color? like i mentioned we have a sweet treats theme on our tree, peppermint colors and gingerbread characters. i love it, very whimsical.

23. favorite for christmas dinner? my favorite meal is our christmas eve tradition of appetizers. my dad makes his famed "loaded nachos", they are so good!

24. what do you want for christmas this year? i have a very hard time making a list for myself. i'm so focused on getting the perfect gifts for everyone else. one thing i did come up with this year is my very own nintendo ds.

ok, so you know all about how we spend our christmas! i'll include a picture of my only real tree, so you can see how beautiful it was.

i'm not tagging anyone for this one, if you want to participate drop me a line in the comments so I can go check out your family traditions!
