Bullet time...

• I'm taking the NaBloPoMo challenge, which means I need to write something.
• There's lots of ideas floating around in my mind. However, I seem to be lacking in the ability to put my thoughts into words. Hence, the trusty bullet post.
• Friday is the last day of school. A half-day. Why do they bother with those?
• I'm certainly ready for vacation as I'm tired of homework.
• Do your kids bring home a lot of homework?
• Mine do, it's mostly busy work and I kind of resent it. I'm sure the girls do too.
• After spending all day in class (hopefully) working hard, I think the kids should be able to come home and relax and play.
• I can't remember if I had a lot of homework. Doesn't seem like I had as much as K & B do. Maybe I just didn't do my homework.
• Though I ended up in advanced classes, I really wasn't a scholarly kid. My grades reflected that...my poor parents.
• However, in college I redeemed myself and graduated with highest honors, so close to a 4.0, I had 3.97.
• Not sure what we will fill our days with this summer. My dad (Papa) is a go, go, go type of guy so he's been busy planning activities for the girls. He also takes them on a real vacation each summer, not sure what this summer's destination is yet. Mr. H is also planning a little family get-away and maybe another one when the girls are gone. But there are still many open days.
• I'd love to go camping but it's just too hot, humid and buggy during the summer.
• I believe that residence in Florida should require all homes to have in ground swimming pools. We don't have one.
• After much deliberation I ordered a frame pool today, a step up from the easy set ring pool we had in the past. It's a pretty good size, and so were the shipping charges. Yikes! But there's no doubt it will be money well spent.
• I'd like to get a trampoline as well. But Mr. H and Papa are not on board, they fear broken body parts. Not from falling off, but from landing wrong. So although Miss B has reminded me that I'm an adult and I can get one if I want to, I've chosen to wait til everyone's in agreement.
• If you have any pro-trampoline arguments, feel free to leave them in the comments.
• Truth is, trampolines are a sore subject with me. As a kid I was promised to inherit my aunt's trampoline. Then my parents moved to Florida away from the trampoline in Ohio. So my uncle's nieces and nephew inherited it.
• Yeah, I'm still a bit tinged.
• And boats. Another sore subject. In Ohio we had a ski boat which we loved. It didn't make the trip to Florida. Where there is water everywhere. OK it wasn't exactly ocean appropriate but our fairly small county has 113(!) lakes. That doesn't include Lake Okeechobee which is not far away at all.
• Maybe I'll put a boat on my birthday list. I'll probably end up with a canoe!
• Or I could set up a boat fund donation page. Tacky I know. But remember Save Karyn?

bullet friday

• Spring Break has officially begun for us, the girls are home.
• Not sure how I feel about this, the laid back days are good, the bickering and "I'm bored!" and "It's not fair!" are not good. It's too late now, the bus is gone and I can't put them back on it.
• We have no big plans, but will be busy with 4 softball games, one tooth pulling, Easter.
• The weather is nice, not hot yet, so maybe we can squeeze in a camping trip or a day at the beach.
• Sea World has been on our places to go list for a long time. But now I'm not so sure after the last orca incident. Not that I blame the orca. Just the whole wild animals in captivity thing. Does the bad outweigh the good? Is this something I should take a stand against? I do love animals.
• I believe that the antibiotics are working on my tooth problem. My face is not as lumpy and the pain is not constant.
• As a rule, I try to avoid antibiotics when at all possible. Germs become resistant, I'm sure of it. I know that lice have. (No, we aren't experiencing that, thank goodness!). I'm a little unnerved that I'm dumping 2,000 mg of antibiotics into my body each day.
• Hand sanitizer makes me want to hurl, as we experienced overload back in the chemo days. I believe it also contributes to resistance...washing hands is best!
• I finally accepted that I *for real* have a bit of a shopping problem. Acceptance is the first step right?
• My biggest shopping addiction? All things for Kelley and Bethany.
• It is now time for me to change my ways, which I am going to blog about for accountability.
• I will confess real quick that I have packages (a few or maybe more) that I've not opened yet. Don't judge me! Well, maybe you should. *blush*
• At last night's game Kelley struck out. Well, actually she refused to swing. I was pretty ticked at her stubborn ways. Next turn, I told her we would have her fave dinner-Olive Garden if she hit a double. She did it. We had Olive Garden. I am not above bribery. Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
• I had promised Bethany the same with her restaurant of choice, she hit a single. So she picks dinner tonight. It's a hometown buffet.
• Is it wrong to live vicariously through your children? Cause the softball thing? I think I enjoy it more.
• Though I can't get Mr. H back on board, I'm getting the bug to move. It's a necessary thing, we have outgrown our house. Due to life's circumstances we can only do this if Mr. H is willing.
• We have similar ideas for an ideal home, but they aren't quite reasonable yet. I'm trying to tell Mr. H that it doesn't have to be our "forever" home. We just need space.
• We both agree that it would be neat to live in an RV living wherever, whenever. Wouldn't that be cool?
• But that wouldn't help our space problem.
• Somehow though, Mr. H needs to be motivated. It might work best if he were to think it was "his" idea. So, any ideas on how to plant that seed?

• i'm really far behind on everything online, hence the lack of written out blog posts.
• seems that internet surfing has become a full time job that i just can't keep up with.
• how wrong is that?!
• at one point there were close to 700, yes SEVEN HUNDRED, unread posts in my google reader.
• i'm proud to say that i have diligently gotten caught up til today.
• unread emails in my email accounts? really bad. mostly store sale updates.
• despite all of this, i really do have things i want to blog about!
• and i owe y'all a "65 in 365" update. i don't think you'll be "wowed" at all, though.
• moving on...i decided a while back that i am now too old to enjoy magazines like cosmo and glamour, so much of the content has nothing i can relate to anymore.
• i love magazines, though. thankfully subscriptions are cheap on amazon.
• and i've found one that i really, really like...redbook!
• i still do love me some people magazine. yes, i'm nosy.
• my people usually arrives on friday. it did not arrive today, bummer.
• kelley and bethany having been having *moods*.
• not only do i not know how to deal with them, i don't believe they are old enough to be having *moods*. ugh.
• i am however enjoying their softball season, just practices so far. all of the little girls really pack a punch!
• also thrilled with how swagbucks has given ten bucks for every one!
• thinking i need to hurry and redeem them before they change their minds.
• but wondering why some gift cards cost so many more swagbucks than others?
• gotta run...blogs to read, emails to delete, facebook to catch up on, and my forums and chat groups? i miss you all! i hope to check in soon. =)

bullet thursday

• wondering if i ran everyone off with my whole depressive, healthcare ramblings?
• hoping not...i'm over it for now. just had to let it out.
• i did watch the state of the union address.
• seeing rahm emanuel was my favorite part.
• tomorrow is the last day to sign the girls up for spring softball. each day of sign ups has fallen at a time that i wasn't able to go. must.make.it.tomorrow.
• report cards came out...two good ones! well one "C", but we didn't make a big deal out of that-pretty sure it's already up to a "B" now. a good number of "A's" for both!
• bethany's big birthday surprise was tickets to go see taylor swift in concert...she was so thrilled she had tears of pure joy in her eyes! and so did i...
• she didn't acquire her taste for country music from me...just sayin'.
• i do however find myself liking taylor swift.
• on a slightly controversial note, a while back a blogger made a comment about aging-that it was a sign of our sin from God, growing older and all. sounded a little *out there* for me.
• today i feel my age and then some, and i may or may not agree with the above bullet at this point. all i know is-it's not good.
• nothing in my medication arsenal is working. ugh.
• moving on again...
• i'm convinced the kittens are some sort of "mini" cats. they are over 9 months old and other than chubby bellies, they are so tiny. still like kittens. their mama was just a kitten herself.
• no more homes have been found, but i haven't been looking. maybe next week.
• i keep saying that a lot..."maybe next week".
• i came across some not so flattering old school photos of myself on facebook. thank goodness the poster didn't tag them. it was from my time at boarding school and i had put on some weight...i looked like a darn tank.
• luckily i lost that weight over the following summer before i started my new school.
• i do love looking at the old photos though...just not "fat" ones.
• still no new pics to share, i think our desktop was disconnected during our satellite tv installation-part of a package deal. and i only know how to upload photos a certain way.
• yes, i am very much a creature of habit.
• plus chemobrain causes me to not function as well on the technical stuff. when i ask mr. h for "how to's" his reply is always "RTFM!". i do, and it might as well be written in a foreign language.
• "RTFM" must be an army saying, i can't tell you what it means without using a word that i save only for special occasions. let's just say it has something to do with reading the manual.
• it's a bit chilly here in florida. i like it, but i don't tolerate it very well. this doesn't give me much credibility when i complain i want to live where there are 4 seasons. i'm pretty sure floridian cold is different than northern cold. i've heard about it before, something about the moisture.
• i still think i'd be ok up north. i could get one of those north face puffer coats that goes down to my ankles. and i have uggs now (got 'em at a huge discount) and a pair of emu's that are just like uggs (another huge discount). they look kind of silly in the tropics. so see, moving would have a purpose!

bullet tuesday

• this week is way too busy hence the bullet post.
• i have no idea how i used to live, work, take care of the kids, do it all.
• now just the thought that i have to go to a few places this week has me wigged out.
• i'm sort of glad that the blogging challenge is over.
• did any of you win a nablopomo prize?
• i miss you all, i have over 400 unread blog entries in google reader.
• told you it's a busy week.
• i can't wait til the weekend, things will be calmer then, i hope.
• there are a few topics that i really want to blog about, can't wait til i have the time to do it.
• we haven't decorated for christmas yet. no christmas music yet. no snow...ever darn it.
• one thing i did do is have the girls make an "advent calendar" of sorts. they colored paper then cut into strips to make a paper chain. on the blank side we each wrote down something we are thankful for. i numbered the chains and we rip one off every night and share what's written inside.
• tonight kelley's class has a dinner and we each get to cook something. it's supposed to be something that represents our ethnic heritage. but i have no idea "what" i am. for the sake of the dinner i'm claiming italian and bringing stuffed shells. my family loves them, so hopefully the class, parents and teachers will too.
• i found some "hot" toys to sell on ebay, not hot as in stolen LOL! now i'm wondering why i bought them when i'm claiming to be so busy. hopefully i will actually list them, so far i have pictures uploaded.
• still doing lots of shopping though, i love to give! much better than to receive i think.
• been so busy i've only heard bits about tiger woods. enough to determine that he's an ass! i guess he's paying his wife to stay with him for 7 years? $80 million? why? i mean he must not care much for her if he had as many mistresses as they are saying. unless it's "cheaper to keep her". she is such a pretty woman, the hussies aren't pretty. guess it's not always about looks.
• on another note, i have still not found any homes for the kittens. i don't get it, all the work is done and they are cute. i looked at the competing ads and one said that the mama disappeared and the babies aren't old enough to be weaned and need to be bottle fed around the clock. the other ad claimed the kittens still needed some taming. yikes! my little orphans should be the ones people want. not sure what i'm going to do...
• ok so now you know what's on my mind this week. if you don't see me, take pity on me for being runned ragged.

NaBloPoMo Day 9...Bullet Style

• today has been an off day and has left me low on inspiration, ergo the bullets.


• mondays are my "sleep in" day. some may think i sleep in every day but i don't. the other six days i set an alarm, on mondays i don't.
• i'll just say that i slept in way too late, even for me, so for normal people i slept in ridiculously late.


• hence the off day.


• i told y'all about kelley's report card, which if you don't remember, was excellent!


• but also mentioned some apprehension about bethany's. her progress report was not great. i don't even think i could say it was good. it was bad enough that she had many restrictions for the remainder of the grading period.


• i am so excited to report that bethany's report card was pretty darn awesome!


• bethany doesn't work up to her potential, but she does have the potential.


• a pleasant surprise was that her teacher gave a good report about bethany's behavior! she's not a bad kid, but she's bethany, and that can be challenging. despite the sometimes hard times i wouldn't ever want her to change who she is. but with this comes the chance of bad behavior reports.


• mr. h has been preparing for something the past year or so. he calls it "disaster preparedness"...natural disaster, economic collapse, civil unrest and don't tell him i told you this, zombie attacks.


• he stockpiles. we have a lot of various things stockpiled. which is great except our house is small and already cramped.


• i think if he was really clever he could build an underground bomb shelter. if nothing else it would be a good place to store his stockpiles.


• his current quest is to find long shelf-life ways to store food. currently, he is playing with his new food dehydrator.


• if a crisis ever happens, feel free to come on over!


• moving along...i still haven't found any homes for the kittens.


• one friend is interested in a cat to rid her barn of vermin. we are actually thinking that instead of the kittens, (in)vader may be a good match. he has claws (extra ones too-remember he's a hemingway. sort of). and lately he has been trying to get outside with every opportunity he finds. he would have to give up the luxuries of air conditioning and couches, etc. but we are considering this option.


• ferris and theo are really encouraging this. (in)vader is so sweet, except to them.


• i'm thrilled to hear the news that it seems stellan's heart ablation was a success!


• my prayers will continue, asking our Lord to make this success everlasting.


• and that sums up my thoughts on this off day.

• i can not believe it's already friday again.


• where is the time going?


• it hasn't been a great week for me, i've felt pretty crappy.


• mr. h had a birthday, he's officially old now-just like he's been saying about me.


• we haven't celebrated his day yet. we're waiting for family.


• wondering if i should get him something else gift wise? i followed his list but it's seems boring to me.


• today was progress report day for the girls.


• kelley had an excellent report all A's except one B.


• bethany had a...um...well...she hasn't been doing her best and it shows.


• bethany better have an improved report card.


• bethany will have fewer play days for the rest of the quarter.


• i am fixing to start the last sookie stackhouse book.


• i'm going to be bored without any adventures of stephanie plum or sookie stackhouse.


• both girls fell asleep minutes into "The Sixth Sense", i guess they were too tired for family fun night.


• i got the first season of "The Flight of the Conchords" from netflix, can't wait to start it.


• i'm so far behind on all things television, thank goodness for netflix.


• and i've missed the premiere of "Cougar Town", thank goodness for the internet too.


• am i old enough to be a cougar? *gasp* i probably am.


• i guess i'd need to get rid of mr. h if i wanted to become a cougar?


• shhh! don't tell him i've mentioned this.

• i so wish we had fall weather, or atleast have the temperature drop below 80 degrees or even 90 degrees. ick.
• very anxious to bust out clothes for the new season. is it wrong to lower the air conditioner so i can?
• every day i fall more in love with my girls.
• but i really don't care for the mood swings.
• i guess they get the moods from me, huh?
• been reading the sookie stackhouse books, definitely not at all like twilight!
• so sad that patrick swayze has passed away.
• i never get tired of watching dirty dancing.
• i hate cancer.
• disappointed that i couldn't convince the girls to play fall softball.
• i wish i could play softball.
• speaking of sports, i'm so excited that it's college football season!
• it's almost time for mr. h's birthday and i think i did a good job with his gifts.
• another birthday has come, my best kitty ferris is 16 years old now.
• ferris's age is catching up with him and it's sad to watch the changes.
• i've had ferris for my entire adult life, he's been there for all of my ups and downs.
• thinking about what to do for a "family fun night".
• i definitely think the night should involve ice cream!
• hopefully ice cream will cheer the girls up, have i mentioned they are really moody lately?
• and it's too darn hot outside.

bullet friday-the kelley morgan version...

• a week ago kelley celebrated her 10th birthday, i can not believe that my baby is 10!


• her birth day occurred on my 25th birthday, this was in no way planned...usually first babies are late and kelley was 10 days early.


• i did not want an epidural or any pain meds during the delivery. my water broke but i wasn't really having contractions. i was dilated 2 cm when they started the pitocin and it was 8am.


• by 9am i was asking for an epidural, so disappointed in myself...thinking i'd probably have another 12 hours of labor and i was already wimping out.


• they went ahead and checked again just to see, and i was suddenly 9cm-talk about relief!


• at 9:32am my little lamb was born, and i succeeded in my quest of no pain meds or epidural!


• my eyes were closed when i heard kelley's first cry, it was tiny like that of a little lamb. i imagined she would be tiny as well...i was shocked to see my baby for the first time and she was 7 pounds 2 ounces.


• kelley was always kelley. we don't remember a time of wondering if she was going to be a boy or girl, or having a list of names to choose from. she was our baby girl kelley, kelley from the belly.


• she still has a little lamb's voice at age 10.


• kelley has blossomed into a beautiful, smart and caring girl.


• we learn something new from her every day, her wisdom knows no bounds.


• kelley loves Jesus and Jesus loves kelley.


• she also loves animals and hopes to work with animals for her career, i'm thinking she would make a great veterinarian.


• kelley is a small girl, but she definitely isn't a push-over.


• in fact she can be very stubborn.


• she is also very honest, this proves to be a challenge with her having a sister capable of great sneakiness.


• she's an awesome sister.


• and she's a blessing to have as a daughter...the best birthday present ever!

bullet friday...

• today is a big day...birthdays! as i'm counting on my fingers, i'm up to 8 who share this day.
• this day makes me officially old...35 and even older because today also makes me a mom to a 10 year old!
• not a lot of celebrating happening yet, we'll be having the party tomorrow.
• i will have to take a walk down memory lane later and tell you about kelley's entrance into our world.
• as for my entrance, i believe i was almost born in a car...my mom didn't realize she was in labor (we nurses sometimes goof), when she did realize it, well then she had to make sure the house was tidy and the floor was vacuumed. if not for my grandma mccarthy, i may have been born at home doing housework!
• in other news...we are still working on buying a house, "the" house...but are also checking out other properties just in case. there's only so much that can happen before the lightbulb moment happens and you realize "the" house just might not be for us.
• it is really, i mean really hot...and humid.
• i hate to perspire, and this atmosphere just makes me plain sweat *yuck*!
• we still have 5 kittens for adoption, if you open your door to a basket containing a sweet orange kitten, you are obligated to keep it!
• the kittens have been introduced to our "gen pop". daisy loves them, vader loves them, ferris is too old to be bothered and he let's them know it.
• as for theo-you know theo, well he is not happy. at. all.
• i did finish the "great toy purge of oh nine", well other than books.
• the rest of my household duties have been waiting, i don't worry about it much-i know they won't leave me.
• instead i'm driving myself to brink of sanity with such facebook games as farkle, bejeweled blitz and typing maniac.
• ugh that typing maniac!

• this week has been crazy.
• the internet has been crazy, which is why i haven't kept up with any of my monday, tuesday or friday post traditions.
• the new house to be situation is crazy, can't figure out if it's all a lesson in patience or just a bad omen.
• notice any crazy type of themes?
• the girls spent their week at horse camp.
• i have new respect for pioneer woman's laundry duties after said camp experience.
• a week ago i started a major toy, game, girl's junk purge.
• i haven't finished it yet, or even tried...today though i must do it.
• my oncology appointment was 2 months ago, i just don't even want to think about it. but that too i must do soon.
• feeling sentimental and bought a michael jackson cd.
• i still have my old thriller record album, complete with 9 year old style i love michael jackson written on the cover.
• another must do-find homes for 5 sweet orangey kittens, but i do enjoy them so much.
• daisy the pug enjoys them too, she isn't allowed to get too close though. the kittens don't seem to mind her but i'd hate for her smooshie to get scratched.
• totally excited that my roommate from the year i spent at boarding school found me on facebook! we had lost touch for several years...we were like two peas in a pod.
• i'm so far behind in pictures, my memory card is completely full. wondering why even things i enjoy feel like a chore these days?
• speaking of chores, i should go finish the purge project. no fun.

• it has been insisted that i start cooking with some regularity
• cooking is actually very time consuming, but i'm not half bad at it
• we had many days of rain and thunderstorms this week and i loved it
• however kelley and bethany had A LOT of unused energy
• tomorrow is the 4th of july and i'm looking forward papa's ribs and mammie's good cooking
• we have a ton of "real" fireworks, seriously a stack taller than me
• sad for so many who have sacrificed themselves for this country and not happy that there are so many still in harm's way
• the laundry is really piling up, i'm considering a laundromat day
• it appears that we may actually be moving sometime this year
• i have been really shocked by the behavior of people this week, their comments, their attitudes and their overall unfriendliness
• it would be nice if i could tell them all what i really think and have them halfway understand
• not at all pleased with my new insurance company who has taken away my meds that actually work and substituting them for crappy imposters
• $200 is a lot of money for one med for only a month's supply if i pay cash for it
• we have been having a lot of fun with our rescued litter of kittens
• i hope that the girls will be retiring to their room soon
